Resalad started with a layoff.
Hi, I'm Brody, and I built Resalad. In May 2026, a restructuring eliminated my dev job, and I found myself in a job market I struggled to navigate. This is what I've learned in the past few months, and why I turned it into a product.
01The layoff
A different market than the one I left
In May 2026, my full-time dev job disappeared in a restructuring. The writing was on the wall. An acquisition, instability, a spreadsheet decision, a meeting invite, and suddenly the job search was now my full-time job.
What struck me first was how much the market had changed since I'd last been in it. Gone were the days of extreme developer leverage. AI doomsday headlines popping up multiple times per day. The cyclic "We're so cooked.." to"We're so back!!" narratives drove my anxiety through the roof. Automated screenings on every job posting. AI judging resumes before any human does. Expectations to touch on every single bullet in the JD. Interview processes stretching to four, five, six rounds. The game had new rules, but lucky for us job seekers, we can leverage the same tools that corporations use to better our chances of getting in the door.

02The workflow
What actually worked
I'll admit.. I'm pretty hooked on LLMs in certain use cases. The soul-sucking work of the job search, specifically reshaping the same history to speak to every job description, is exactly (such a claude-ism, lol) the busywork they're good at easing.
So I built a workflow. The LLM ingests a job posting and creates mappings against everything I've actually done. The model rewrites the resume to target the overlap, preventing hallucinations. My original setup was repetitive, required foresight and some grunt work in setting the desired direction for Claude, but it worked: my first four applications got me two interviews.
In the current market, your likelihood of getting in the door approaches zero without targeting semantic similarity.
03The realization
Resalad optimizes half the battle
Nowadays, getting human eyes on your resume is frankly unlikely. Hiring managers are flooded with hundreds, even thousands of applications, so decisions either rest upon the tired minds of human screeners, or models specifically trained to recognize these patterns. It's a no-brainer for the hiring companies deciding who calls the shots.
Resalad exists to help you score higher on the initial process, and to break through the walls of these similarity screeners using your personal experience and background as a professional (and human being).
